Insurance Verification and Authorization Specialist - Virtual Assistant

This is a remote position. Rockstar is seeking a highly accurate and proactive Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist to support a growing physical therapy practice operating across multiple U.S. states. This is a full-time remote role, ideal for a detail-oriented virtual assistant with experience in healthcare admin, insurance workflows, and EMR systems. Schedule & Requirements Full-time, remote Work hours: U.S. Mountain Standard Time (MST) Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection Must use dual monitors for optimal workflow and speed Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Why Join This Team? Be part of a mission-driven organization helping patients across multiple states Join a team that values process, professionalism, and proactive problem-solving Long-term remote opportunity with daily collaboration and clear expectations Use your insurance expertise to ensure patients receive timely, approved care Work with a respectful, communicative, and high-functioning team Responsibilities Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits across a variety of payers and plans Obtain prior authorizations and referrals as required by insurance Accurately update patient insurance records within the EMR (WebPT) Communicate effectively with patients and internal teams to clarify insurance requirements Proactively follow up on pending verifications or authorization requests Flag and report issues that may affect patient scheduling or treatment approval Support insurance documentation and maintain organized digital records Collaborate via Microsoft Teams with onsite and remote administrative staff Tools You'll Use EMR: Prompt Communication & Collaboration: Microsoft Teams Excel, shared drives, and patient management portals as needed Requirements Experience with insurance verification and prior authorization (physical therapy or outpatient healthcare preferred) Familiarity with U.S. healthcare insurance terminology and workflow Proficient in navigating payer websites, portals, and verification tools Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping Strong verbal and written English communication skills Comfortable working independently with accuracy and accountability Able to consistently work full-time MST hours Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
